Introduction
Welcome to Student Services
Our mission as school counselors at Forest Lake Middle School is to provide a comprehensive counseling model that attends to the whole child. A developmental approach in the domains of personal/social, academic support, and post-secondary planning are some of the ways we aid a student's growth. We are advocates who provide support, helping students become healthy, responsible citizens. In partnership with other educators, parents or guardians, and the community, we intervene, teach and model appropriate behavior in a positive school climate. Our goal is that all students in the Forest Lake Area Schools District have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.
The Student Services Office provides a variety of services for Forest Lake Area Middle School. The office fills both administrative and guidance functions for students, parents, alumni, and staff. Information and assistance relating to discipline, guidance, counseling, grading, and other areas are provided by the Student Services staff. The Student Services Office practices a personalized approach to serving the school population. Major goals for the Student Services Office include:
- Utilizing a holistic approach with students in all areas: academics, behavioral, social, personal, and career;
- Maintaining a high level of communication between staff, students, parents, and other appropriate out-of-school personnel;
- Linking students with a team of staff members in the office for the duration of their high school career;
- Providing fair and consistent responses and assistance in a timely manner to those we serve.
